Meet Dr. J.

Dr. Edwina Jackson professional known as “A Community Advocate”, “Action Jackson”, “Dr. J” is the President & CEO of Impact Counseling and Consulting. As a Healthcare Administrator, Social Worker, Adjunct Faculty, and Philanthropist, Dr. J has gained valuable insights and experience with healthcare organizations, governmental entities, higher education, faith-based and rural communities. Dr. Jackson is a leader, compassionate advocate, who utilizes straight-forward communication, grassroots efforts, practical skills, and theoretical frameworks to assist healthcare organizations and communities identify there opportunities, share best practices and drive outcomes across locations to facilitate change and sustainable actions. 

Dr. J earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. Additionally, she earned her Certification in paralegal studies, grant writing, project management, alcohol and drug abuse, gerontology, and military matters. Dr. J is enrolled in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education. Dr. Jackson holds the license of a master level social worker and a licensed community residential care facility administrator. Dr. Jackson is currently a candidate for LISW-CP. Dr. J earned her Doctoral degree in Education with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University.

As a scholar, Dr. J’s research is focused on healthcare, access, mental health, rural and faith-based communities. As such, her research, “Rural Collaboration: Applying CBPR Principals To Address Access to Healthcare” has been the catalyst for her healthcare platform utilized to transform healthcare organizations and rural communities. Dr. J hasn’t just helped herself, by starting and running many healthcare businesses on her own but she uses these strategies to help others. So you can make your decision with confidence, knowing that Dr. J has been there. 

Dr. J’s personal mantra is, Optimizing health is looking at health through the lens that “Health is more than the absence of disease; it is a resource that allows people to realize their aspirations, satisfy their needs and to cope with the environment in order to live a long, productive, and fruitful life”. Healthcare must be equitable for all by helping one organization, university, community at a time.
